Walkabout the highlands

37th day, of Autumn, 547

Today I had a nice little walkabout with Wheatstone, Behr, Taryn, Mani, deebo, and sometimes Wandalyn and Knucklehead. I think I understand the area north of town a little better now, highlands and such places, and might venture there myself sometimes. Behr also showed us an underground river, with mysterious caves, quite cold and damp.

On an outcropping somewhere northish and eastish that I have already forgotten, there was a Darshak selling hand axes, I bought one for 100 coins. I was told it wasn't very good, but a Dwarf must have an axe, even if it is a small one. Eventually I'm sure I'll be able to afford better, but for now, this is it. For the rest of our wander Taryn lent me her axe to try out. Being a full axe it did have a much more solid heft and gratifying thwacking feeling than the hand axe. Someday.

I have recently been training with Bruia Stout, I believe I have mastered 13 of her lessons, and feel that I am close to being able to brew. I look forward to my first keg with great pleasure. I also feel that I've been humping this barrel of water around for quite long enough, being a dwarf I had been expecting to learn brewery earlier. I was quite accomplished at it at home, but apparently the yeast works differently here than where I am from, and the hops are not the same.

One Fish? No Fish.

20th day, of Autumn, 547

Today Wheatstone and I experimented with fishing, we also played around a bit in Agratis. Then Wheatstone, Calil and I made our way, with much back tracking and confusion to farmer Balengil's and the lake. We hunted succesfully for a while, before I got confused between Boloks and Artaks and Calil and I fell. Luckily Wheatstone escaped. Unfortunately Calil had fallen too hard for him to raise, but Behr and Wandalyn came cheerfully to our rescue yet again.

Whatsits

17th day, of Autumn, 547

Today we found the whatsits and Wheatstone reclaimed the broad grin that had been his pre-exile. I also managed to aquire what looked like dwarf bread, and mumble mumble horns mumble mumble...

Simple Pleasures of Life

4th day, of Autumn, 547

Not much happened today, after falling in east field Behr and Wandalyn along with several others came to our rescue. Behr and Wandalyn cheered us with stories of how they had been as weak and foolish as us long ago. Then we meandered about with Behr and Wandalyn, falling several times and being chained bumpily across the ground. Just as Wandalyn was professing a need to return to the library, a rescue request came for Malloc which she couldn't turn down. We chased from the south fields around town, through the northern fields quite out of my reconing. Eventually after being surrounded by more fearsome beasts than I can name or count we came to a cave which Behr believed Malloc was located within. We found Malloc without encountering anything too terrible in the caves. He appeared to be quite annoyed at the spiders for chewing on his shirt. Or perhaps I heard wrong.

We spend a short while near where Malloc had lain, fighting bears of various colors. Then we slipped southward and Malloc invited us to hunt with him around the lake. He didn't seem fazed by our protests of weakness so we went. On the way Malloc showed us a cave which he said was inhabited by Drakes. I will do my best to stay well clear of it for now. We poked around the lake region for a while, killing some cats and rocodiles, before returning to the library.

Safe Trees and Earthquakes

82nd day of Summer, 547

After wandering around and attempting to help with a rescue further south than we maybe ought to have been going, we spent some time hanging out with Twilth, Catlin, Vorkano and Taryn. Twilth gave me a rapier, and gave my dagger to Wheatstone, which was ironic, since it was his dagger in the first place... ^_^ Catlin gave me some nice brown shoes too! Then we were shown the hospital and safe trees of South Forest. While we were hanging out in the flower safe tree, there was an Earthquake! It was very startling.

We also pondered the sanity of those that came long before us.
